Welcome Back!

Welcome to the new, and hopefully, improved LookingBackwards.

Several years ago, I put up my first genealogy site All Our Relations, which served well enough for the time. However, times change, as do Terms of Service, and I did not agree with some of the changes being implemented by GeoCities.com, and purchased a domain name and hosting services. The companies involved have changed occassionaly, but the name now remains the same.

I hope this site will become a more useful resource for our family researchers than was our GeoCities.com  version or our backup sites at rootsweb.com, and the sites hosted at Family Tree Maker. (Due to a configuration problem with Family Tree Maker™, we have multiple pages hosted through their service - which is one reason I no longer use their software program. At some point in time, perhaps we will be able to consolidate all of the data here.)

Genealogy and Your Will

E-mail Print PDF

This was posted to a site at www.MyFamily.com

I feel this is important enough to share as widely as possible, and so am reprinting it from the MyFamily posting. A few years ago, the founder of "Cookie's Corner", Ann "Cookie" Tucker passed away. Her husband, Jim Tucker, assumed management of the site, and continued her networking and research.

However, Jim passed away at the breginning of 2008, and although there have been family members to take up the management of "Cookie's Corner", their genealogy files are in limbo, awaiting his heirs to go through them and get them shipped off to the other family members who carry on their interest in genealogy. this is not meant to disparage or belittle them - we all grieve in our own way and in our own time, and often delay getting around to things that remind us too closely of our own mortality, until we feel capable of dealing with them.

I heartily recommend such a codicil as suggested below.

Words from the Past

I saw behind me those who had gone, and before me those who are to come. I looked back and saw my father and his father and all our fathers, and in front to see my son and his son, and the sons upon sons beyond. And their eyes were my eyes. As I felt so they had felt, and were to feel, as then, so now, as tomorrow and forever. Then I was not afraid, for I was in a long line that had no beginning and no end. And the hand of his father grasped my father's hand and his hand was in mine, and my unborn son took my right hand and all, up and down the line that stretched from Time That Was to Time That Is and Is Not Yet, raised their hands to show the link. And we found that we were one....
