Clark was married to Hester Ann ? prior to his marriage to Martha because it is a known fact that he had a son named Thomas at the time of this marriage and I have located Thomas J. Clark w. Hester Ann in Bastrop County Texas with a son Thomas of the right age to have been the same Thomas Clark found on the 1870 Liberty County Texas census with Thomas J. and Martha L. Clark and their son Wm. M. age 3. Census Records: 1870, On Liberty County Texas Census with Martha L. Clark as wife (Source: 1870 U.S. Census for Liberty County Texas) Military service: Served in Civil War Tax Records: 1865, Paid Poll Tax in Liberty County Texas in 1865-66-70. Nor could I find a cemetery listing in Liberty County for either one. Civil War Service for Thomas J. Clark. Regiment Name = Griffin's Batt'n Texas Infantry, Confederate, Company D, Soldier's Rank_In = Private, Soldier's Rank_Out, Private, Alternate Name T. J./Clark. Notes, Film Number M227 roll 7. Griffin's Battalion, Texas Infantry (Griffin's Regiment) (21st Infantry). Griffin's Infantry Battalion was assembled during the early summer of 1862 with six companies. The unit served in the Trans-Mississippi Department along the Texas coast and at Galveston, then in November, 1864, merged into the 21st Texas Infantry Regiment. The field officers were Lieutenant Colonel William H. Griffin and Major H. A. Hamner.
