Carlin Whitfield
Mrs. Carlin Catherine Smith Whitfield, 92 formerly of 303 Ray Street,
died 9:30 p.m. Sunday in the Clinic Convalescent Center. She was born in
Mortons Gap, Nov. 5, 1891, the daughter of the late Leonard D. Smith and
Mary ann Tate, and a member of the first Christian Church. she was
preceded in death by her husband, O>C> Whitfield, and two brother,
Leonard and Calvin Smith. Survivors include on daughter, Mrs. Mary Beth
Burns, Jackson, Miss. one son, Henry D. Whitfield, Owensboro, one sister,
Mrs. Selma Keele, Jackson, Miss. three grandchildren, and three great
grandchildren. Services will be held 10.20a.m. Wednesday at Harris
Funderal Chapel, with Dr. Edward F. Coffman, pastor of the First
Christian Church, officiating. Burial will be in Grapevine Cemetery.
Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. today and Wednesday until the funeral
hour.
