  From Bernice Horn Ayres 6-28-2010 via Facebook message: Teri was 7 years old when she was discovered to have diabetes. In her early 30's she had kidney failure and had to have a kidney transplant. She actually had two transplants in about two years--the first failed within a really short time and the 2nd probably failed as well--bringing about her death at 37.
