Alison Campaign Log #12

T’sarvold Moon 19

We are now in the main room. Cynthia has spiked the down to the small room. Ali has donned the silvery armor stuff over her other clothing.

We open the other door, we see a larger room with a platform about 20×40 feet, like an upper stair (like on the other side).

Ali gets roped and takes a torch along the ledge, about 15 feet out the ledge widens and widens again about another 15 feet to about 9-10 feet wide. About the time the 60 feet of rope play out, the path becomes a tunnel. Ali returns to the group, Bri has been seeking for a hidden door in the other chamber without success. We head towards toward the ledge, changing our order slightly (Cynthia and Marya move to the front). We reach the end of the ledge, and enter the tunnel. Shortly after that Cynthia sees some yellowish blobs, which she cautions the party about them being dangerous, a fact which Ali does not believe based on Cynthia’s history of tall tales (doing the Watusi in the Bog, etc.)

One of them entangles Bri, Ali pours oil at the base of it to see if that will help free Bri. Bri manages to ignite the oil, but it doesn’t seem to help as the blob moves up his leg. Davic forces his way into the chamber past Moe. There is a significant cluster fuck as people crowd into each other’s hexes, Ass Lick gets stuck, Cynthia tries to free him. Marya tries to get the salt from Ass Lick’s pannier, but it is on the side opposite from where she is. Cynthia cuts the retraining straps on that so Marya can reach in to get the salt.

Ali tries to pull Bri free, and they wind up getting entangled with each other. Davic knocks Bri free, and splits the blob into smaller ones in doing so. Marya continues to try and get the salt, as does Brenna from her pack. Ali makes an acrobatic maneuver and gets free, falling into a ball against a wall where she stays, crying.

Davic gets trapped by one. Moe continues to fight one, on his feet.

Marya finally gets the salt, and the blob around her hand retracts and moves away. Moe manages to extricate himself. Cynthia tries to free Ass Licker and succeeds in freeing him from it. Ali remains curled up whining in Free Coaster about she hates Cynthia, Violet was right, we never should have left home, she wants her mommy, where’s Draven and Kytheria to make things better, etc. etc..

Marya scatters salt which causes the blob to move away from her. Ali finally begins to get a grip and goes to see what she can do to help the others. Brenna tosses salt at the blob around Bri, Marya gets completely free, Moe gets stuck.

Davic frees Bri again. Marya salts the blob on Cynthia, it begins to retreat as well. In attempting to free herself, Cynthia gets more entangled. Ali manages to grab up a bit of salt from the floor to toss it on the one that has Moe. Davic frees Moe, Ali moves up to Marya and Cynthia to see what she can do.

Ali begins sweeping a path clear of salt towards the way they entered, hoping that this will allow a space for the blobs to retreat out of our way. Cynthia makes her way Davic gets stuck again, and manages to free himself once more. Eventually the blobs are reduced and clean up begins.

Davic and Ali return to the main cavern, as we realized that it appeared to be a salt mine. We collect some salt, and return to the group, with Ali continuing the litany of whine almost until they return to the group. Some of the salt is boiled in water and kept that way, the rest is ground/pounded and distributed among the group. We also perform first aid and snack a bit before heading on again, about 5 hours later.

We trudge along mightily, and get about 20-25 feet to where there is a branch and we take the left hand path. Based on Ali’s sense of absolute direction, we appear to be headed in the proper direction based on our map. About 15 feet along, we come to a place where there is a drop about 15 feet deep partially filled with rubble. This seems to match the story we heard in the bar, which Bri reminds us about.

The risk of someone being possessed is discussed, and Brenna agrees that she is the “best” in case that happens, and takes the lead.

Brenna gets about 10 feet in and stops, saying there’s a pile of rags in the room. Cynthia moves forward and ignites the rags. A bit further shuffling about, Brenna says it looks like it was maybe a person. she continues on through and out the other door, and around a bend in the tunnel, takes another two steps and stops dead, standing there, saying there are Mammon’s Own down there – a lot of them.

We decide to wait, let the lantern cool and change the lenses, and while waiting for that we realize we are about 25 feet or so from the panel where we are to find Vial #1.

We decide to go forward without light, edging our way slowly. We make it to the plaque and Ali feels it out, finding the hinges and the knob on the other side. She gets it open, there is a light from within it (like from another room) and muted voices, carefully take out 8 of the vials, hands them to Davic who places them into her belt pouch. While taking the last two out, it gets quiet, and she hears the sound of hinges or a door opening, close the plaque, hand off the last two vials and begin a more rapid return to the party.

Once I can see the red glow, I momentarily do not know where I am, or what I’m doing, and stop, putting out a hand to block whomever is behind me holding my cloak. A voice calls “Ali” and I ask where we are going – he says we are going back to our party, that we have the vials.

This sounds partly familiar, although I don’t like the people I’ve been with recently, but we are going to town and that’s a good thing as it’s been a long time since I’ve been there.

As we approach the party, I stumble, and have no recollection of anything since getting the vials, despite having been told by Davic we were gone for a week.

Davic explains to Bri that “The Legend Happened”, and we sort out what may have happened. This sparks an insatiable curiosity in Ali, who takes Bri back down and nothing happens, other than Ali stumbles slightly and feels a bit of pressure. The voices, which Ali hears more clearly than Bri, are saying “I thought I heard voices,he never says anything unless there’s someone down here”. We attempt again, this time we get another vial. On the way back the possession recurs. Bri asks several questions of “Ali” who responds. There is a language lesson, we pass beyond the area of the possession and Ali returns to herself.
