Some news and an update!
Some months ago (I actually think it may have been sometime in 2023…), I began an upgrade on the Genealogy side of things here, and wound up pausing mid-update, and then completely forgot it for a while.
I was looking at something, and realized that the update/upgrade had never been completed, and so resumed that process; however, the ineffable Mr. Murphy decided to pay a visit, and data tables were corrupted, the database was migrated from a much earlier version of MySQL to v. 8-something, and the genealogy side lost contact with the database, because, gee, the database itself had been clanged.
Quelle surprise, mais non?
All of this was taking place while I was developing a major infection, which had my brain completely fogged up and I was unable to even remember what day of the week it was. Great time to be working on something that requires functional neurons.
A trip to Urgent Care, IV antibiotics and a prescription for more for the next week ensues. After two weeks, I am mostly back to what passes for “normal” with me, but still not fully recovered. But recovered enough to tackle the task once more.
This time, I simply deleted all of the existing files and database, and uploaded the current version of TNG: TThe Next Generation of Genealogy Sitebuilding.
This is the package I’ve used here since version 3.something. It’s now version 14. It’s now installed and configured, and the gedcom file that populates all of those aforementioned tables is back in place, but there’s still a lot of clean up work to be done, especially as the gedcom I used is a direct downloaded version from Ancestry.com, and not the one I typically have in my Family Tree Maker file. But I could access my tree on Ancestry, and I have yet to reinstall FTM or Legacy, both of which I use.
So the rebuild continues, but the site is operational. I’m still working on reconnecting the photos and such, so if you are look at a person, none of the images that may be listed on their page are likely to be linked up yet.
Oh, and yes, I am feelin much improved.
