Ladontia, aka “Horrorfall”
Setting
500 years or so ago, High Elf scholars discovered that the mana level of the world was slowly rising. Research indicated that this had happened in the past, and that when it reached a very high level the fabric of the world would be weakened, and the world would be invaded by demonic entities called Horrors. In order to address this coming apocalypse, the High Elves established a great magical research university on Thera. Money and talent flooded Thera from all over the land of Ladontia. To support the research, a system of indentured servitude was eventually instituted, which slowly morphed into true slavery the means being seen as justifying the end. The High Elves began to see themselves as the most competent enlightened race, the only hope for the world against darkness. With their growing power, Elfin Supremacy began to harden into a key component of their racial psyche, and other city states began to grow uneasy with Thera. Throal, the great hold of the dwarves became their most vocal and effective detractor. An uneasy dance began between the two powers, with the dwarves controlling the supply of Netherium, a shiny gray metal which is strong, flexible, and very light as well as having mystical properties making it ideal for use in Ward markers. The Elves, meanwhile, controlled the technology to create the wards necessary to protect the Kaers.

205 years ago the name giving races retreated into “Kaers,” magically protected strongholds into which, it was hoped, the Horrors could not penetrate. And so came the time of the Horrorfall.

After 200 years in isolation, the mana level fell back to High, and the Kaers began to unseal. The name giving races came out once more into the light of the world, and began to rebuild. Action picks up with the world being a largely new and unexplored, with old political rivalries beginning to heat up again.

She has a Lava Dragon as a familiar, and is oft3en blamed for being a pyromaniac, when she really didn’t do it… Endariak: Loret: Halfling Shaman Lesare: High Elf, born with only Magery, and so looked … Continue reading →

Ladontia – HorrorFall

This is Adam’s campaign, in which we have been playing since sometime in 2014. We are currently a few sessions away from completing this run, and will be moving onward to a new campaign in a few months, using the DragonQuest gaming system, as heavily modified by Adam and Bjoern. … Continue reading →
