I’ve been a fan of the Legend of Zelda games for a long time. One of the first consoles that we purchased way back when was the NES, just so we could play Zelda.

There was a lot of stress relief in running about, hacking down the brush and busting up pottery after a difficult day of dealing with problems at the County Welfare Office where I then worked. Didn’t really care if I defeated Ganon or not, he wasn’t the point of it to me!

Over the years, we progressed from the NES, to the Super Nintendo, the N-64, Gamecube … I bought the Wii in part because I thought it might get me up off my lazy butt and moving (which it did, for the brief time I was able to play on it, before Teh Evol Spawn took it over.

The kids have added the Wii-U and now the Switch to their collections of consoles.

Along the way, we’ve kept up to date on all of the Legend of Zelda games as they’ve been released, even if they aren’t played immediately.

Youngest, who is presently suffering from dental extraction pain (which rates high in my list of ,’10’ on the rate your pain scales) has been playing Breath of the Wild for the last several weeks. The main storyline is nearly done, so they are completing side quests, and what not. It’s been interesting to watch.

But watching isn’t playing, is it. As the console has been taken over for years, some years ago, The whole family had a Gameboy Advance at one point – this was before the major advent of Cellphones, after all. I’ve never owned many games for it, but we all played Legend of Zelda: Four Swords. I think we may have even done the multi-player part of it at least once.

For Mother’s Day, the Youngest & Eldest (who are the only ones still at home these days) bought me a 3DS, along with all of the currently available Zelda games for it. Yeah, it’s not the latest and greatest, but it’s got the games I like and wanted. Some of the games are digital downloads, so I don’t have to worry about losing a cartridge, a few of the are cartridges. The place they ordered it from did a major goof, though, and instead of one of the games ordered, included two copies of another. 🙁

Email was sent off to their Customer Support, which got ignored for a Really.Long.Time. Not good for a company that attempted to claim they were “Essential” in the early days of the Pandemic and needed to remain open for business. Regardless, a responses was finally received, along with a very nice apology for the delay, and the missing game was received toda. Happy:happy!

So, my personal collection of the “Legend of Link” is mostly complete, and now that my hands have finally recovered from last year’s hand and arm surgeries, maybe I can FINALLY play again.
