Snapchat? I have a Snapchat?
So, there I was, in bed, checking my email (a lot of my days start out this way), when I saw one from Snapchat. “Whatthe?” goes I, wondering why I had anything from Snapchat in my email.
It was an advisory that my Snapchat account had been logged into from a location not normally associated with my account. “My Snapchat?” I actually laughed out loud about this, especially when I saw the location was in France, as I have never been to France. (But I’ve been to Oklahoma — sorry, wrong song; but, it’s been that kind of day around here.)
At any rate, I logged in to the account, changed the password, corrected the telephone number to my current one (it still had my old cell phone number in it), set up two-factor authentication, and just for good measure, decided to download all of my data from the platform to see what, if anything was amiss.
A few hours later, I got the notification that my data was ready to download. I apparently setup the account during the time when I had my iPhone, so it’s not surprising that I don’t remember it. I didn’t see any names in the friends list that shouldn’t be there, and there wasn’t any message history that I would be shocked to see published openly on the internet (that is, there was no message history).
In fact, the only thing that I ever posted to the platform was the photo you see over there. I may use it for the author photo for my book. As the song goes,
Now that I’ve rediscovered that I actually do have a Snapchat account, I get to decide if I’m going to keep it, ignore it as I have for the past 2+ years, or delete it, as I should.
Y’all be good now.
